Reading Together

  • Pick a cozy time: bedtime, after dinner, or a weekend “reading club.”

  • Trade roles: your child “reads” pictures; you read words.

  • Ask open questions: What changed? Why did the character do that?

  • Act it out: sing, clap, make voices—make it joyful!

Suggested reads to pair with clay builds:

  • The Dot (creativity)

  • Not a Box (imagination)

  • Harold and the Purple Crayon (world-building)

  • Any book your child loves—then build a scene or character in clay!

Clay Basics for Beginners

  • Clay: kid-safe modeling clay or homemade playdough.

  • Tools: toothpicks, forks, bottle caps, plastic knife, straws, leaves.

  • Surface: tray, placemat, or baking sheet makes cleanup easy.

  • Care: keep clay sealed; re-knead if dry; take photos before it gets squished!
